Chapter 7, A Narrow Encounter
Mi Yu gave her a warning glance and sternly reprimanded, "Describe the cause and process of the matter in detail, word for word, right now, immediately"
"Do you know each other?" Mi Yu asked in surprise, sensing the underlying meaning in the words, thinking to herself why she and An Yiruo were still making such a fuss, as it was clearly a case of burying their heads in the sand.
"There is no need for doubt; research has indeed proven it to be round." Mu Yan spoke in a muffled tone, his expression natural yet slightly grave, as if he were discussing a matter with utmost seriousness. His remarks were so self-evident that they left Mi Yu utterly speechless.
An Yiruo spat and kicked her long leg, "Stop fabricating stories out of nothing. Although Miss An may be a bit muddled, she still has her principles. Don't think that everyone is as much of a lecher as you are."
The rice fish was relentless, attempting to snatch back the phone, threatening, "Will you speak or not?"
Upon hearing this, An Yiruo's imposing demeanor immediately diminished, and she looked at her with a very pitiful expression. After a while, she began to recount in detail the unexpected encounter with Mu Yan.
"It's nothing." Pulling out a chair, Mi Yu said in a huff, "I will never doubt that the Earth is round again"
"Hey, it's good to see you again." An Yiruo smiled sheepishly, greeting awkwardly, her heart filled with anxiety. Until her true identity was revealed, she was Mi Yu, and this act had to continue; after all, she had no way to escape at this point. How unfortunate it was to have chosen the wrong friends, truly unfortunate.
After ten minutes of soft persuasion and hard pressure, the two formidable women were completely defeated by the resolute words of Mu Yan, who stated, "This is the duty of a citizen," leaving them speechless and resigned to their fate.
"Identifying people is not difficult, but could Captain Mu do me a favor?" Seeing him with a cold expression and not speaking, An Yiruo realized that it was unavoidable. She steeled herself, bit her teeth, stomped her foot, and quietly requested, "Could you please not mention our names when the time comes? Just identify the person, is that alright?"
The sunlight clearly cast her shadow on the glass window, and Mu Yan caught a glimpse of An Yiruo's radiant smile, her eyes clear and bright. He turned slightly and smiled, the lines of his face softening a bit, thinking to himself that this girl's smile is truly pure
Tan Ziyue asked, "Captain Mu, this person has also finished the identification, can we leave now?"
Where is this going? A person like her, who is disorganized and undisciplined, may really not be suitable for conversing with a man like Mu Yan, who is so methodical and structured. In a word, it is truly exhausting
Tan Ziyue suppressed the smile on his face and detailed the entire encounter with An Yiruo that day, to the extent that he almost recounted the conversation word for word, causing An Yiruo to frown repeatedly. She thought to herself that this man was too terrifying, as he even remembered clearly that she had gone to the restroom twice, sending a chill down her spine, and she stood up.
His expression showed confusion as he quietly gazed at her for a moment, then suddenly lowered his eyes and repeated, "Embarrassed?"
What is wrong with me?" Mi Yu raised her chin, feeling quite pleased with herself, "I have always presented myself well in public, as for behind the scenes..."
The rice fish could not contain her laughter, and suddenly stood up, chasing after them while saying, "Report, Captain, I want to go too." This place truly could not be lingered in for long; it made one feel anxious and eager to hit someone, and her targets were undoubtedly the two detestable men in front of her. She had already imagined beating the two of them like punching bags countless times in her mind.
The two women visibly sighed in relief, both understanding that if Tan Zi and Tu Shu learned that Mi Yu was looking for someone to substitute for a blind date, and inadvertently passed the news to her father, it would guarantee that Mi Yu would be the next one to face the consequences. It was possible that even An Yiruo would suffer as well. The matter may seem trivial, but the dignity of Old Master Mi was significant; he would not tolerate his daughter treating his words as mere background noise. If the truth were to be exposed, a storm would surely follow.
"A wolf in human skin," An Yiruo remarked, then immediately contradicted herself, saying, "No, it is clearly a female rogue blending in with the crowd"
Before pushing the door open, An Yiruo fiercely twisted Mi Yu's arm, causing her to cry out in pain. When she looked up, her expression was still unguarded as she caught sight of Tan Ziyue sitting by the window in a gray trench coat. Their eyes met inadvertently, and she bit her lip, feigning calmness as she sat down, as if she had never seen him before
"Who dares to strike me, I will strike it down first." Mi Yu crossed his arms over his chest and began to grin again, "Stop dawdling, just confess."
Not mentioning names? Truly exhausting. Mu Yan's patience is nearly worn thin by her. Although he has doubts in his heart, he still nodded and said, "I will do my best." It is not that he intends to make things difficult for them, but he is afraid that if he calls out instinctively, there will be no way to remedy it. After all, it cannot be something like "hey" or "you" as a form of address
An Yiruo exchanged a glance with the rice fish and covered her mouth, laughing. This man is truly amusing, and he even looks a bit embarrassed
Mi Yu muttered in annoyance, and An Yiruo did not hear clearly: "What did you say?"
What on earth is going on? Every time I ask you, you change the subject and speak evasively. Mi Yu squinted slightly, gripping An Yiruo's arms with both hands, looking as if she would devour someone alive if they did not come clean. "You have quite the nerve, daring to cheat behind Mr. Xi's back. I am going to report you."
After listening to Mi Yu, Zhang was left with his mouth agape, unable to close it, completely stunned like a fool in a daze.
"Did your chin fall off?" An Yiruo gave her a disdainful glance, raised her hand to poke her forehead, "Are you silly? Is it really that exaggerated? Come back to your senses."
He frowned, lowered his head to continue taking notes, and at the moment An Yiruo pushed the door open, he heard him remind in a deep voice: "When you go out, it's on the right side"
"What are you two doing? Something happened on my face?" Mu Yan furrowed his brows and instinctively reached up to touch his face. "Don't stare at me like that, it's quite frightening. Hurry and look at them, and let me know if you find anything." As he spoke, he cleared his throat and turned his gaze away.
Upon hearing this, An Yiruo almost stumbled, taking a long breath to steady herself. She straightened her back, feigning ignorance of what she had just heard, and left in a huff.
With a calm withdrawal of her gaze, Tan Ziyue raised an eyebrow, her narrow eyes appearing to smile yet not quite smiling.
There is a sense of pressure as she sees him turn around to face her, suddenly feeling a bit nervous, as if an invisible weight has descended upon her. Taking a deep breath, she says: "Captain Mu, could you acknowledge it like you did just now? You know, this... is somewhat awkward, isn't it?"
She knew that she was afraid of making a big deal out of things. Mi Yu's scheme had succeeded, and he was in high spirits. Sneaking up to her, he lowered his voice and asked, "Things are developing quickly, aren't they? It hasn't been long, and your relationship is quite extraordinary. To be honest, the police officer is handsome and charming, much better than that certain someone named Xi."
After nearly half an hour of identification, the two women still could not provide a consistent answer. Mu Yan let out a light sigh, feeling somewhat helpless
Mu Yan looked up, a faint coldness flashing in his deep eyes, "An... do you have anything to add?"
"Try saying that again?" An Yiruo's face turned pale, and she glared at her, speaking each word slowly: "Do you think I am like you?"
Mi Yu saw her Ming and the library, and wanted to muddle through. Thinking of how she had questioned several times to no avail, she angrily took out her phone to make a call. An Yi Ruo, quick to react, snatched it away, gritting her teeth: "If you dare to gossip recklessly in front of Shuo Liang, be careful or I will kill you." An Yi Ruo knew very well what kind of person Mi Yu was; the girl was reckless and always stirred up trouble. No one could guarantee that she wouldn't take extreme actions, and An Yi Ruo did not want to complicate matters.
Why aren't you struck by lightning! An Yiruo vowed to make a voodoo doll to curse her
"Boss, Tan Ziyue has arrived," Da Li pushed the door open and poked his head in, addressing Mu Yan. "Should we take his statement now, or wait for you?"
"I didn't expect to meet again here." Tan Ziyue smiled slightly, elegantly standing up to greet An Yiruo, and then turned to Mu Yan, "I truly did not wish to see you under such circumstances, in this capacity." Of course, if he had not happened to be out of town on the day of the incident, he would have reported long ago.
The boss rolled his eyes in displeasure, and An Yiruo was angry. She thought to herself that this man must be deliberately trying to make her look foolish. A few days ago, when she was giving her statement, she had mentioned that she was meeting a male friend introduced by someone else, so they arranged to have dinner at a holy place. Even a fool would understand that it was a blind date, so of course, it would be awkward to meet again. It seemed that he was either really stupid or pretending to be confused. Of course, it was also possible that he had been touched by the electric shock of the Pika Pika Baby, leaving him dazed and unclear in his mind
A look of confusion flashed in his eyes as Mu Yan said solemnly, "Not yet."
She shot him a fierce glance and said, "I need to go to the restroom." If you have the ability, say you disagree, she secretly laughed to herself as she strode confidently towards the door
The rice fish suddenly jumped up, reached out to hit the phone that she was holding in her palm, and asked in a harsh tone: "Are you saying that scoundrel kissed you against your will?" Damn it, she had just praised him earlier, but it turns out he is just a lecher.
"When did I become a neighborhood committee aunt?" An Yi, feeling helpless, slumped her shoulders in frustration, "I already said it was a misunderstanding. I got angry and even hit someone, so let's just pretend nothing happened." After a pause, she raised an eyebrow, "It's fine, it's fine."
Looking at Mi Yu with some headache, she rolled her eyes and said, "You still remember the day you were late when I got off the plane, right? It was that day we met at the airport."
As a citizen, you have obligations. Mu Yan has always been accustomed to handling matters in an official capacity and paid no heed to the complaints directed at him. He watched as An Yiruo was about to speak, but suddenly recalled her request upon entering the room. He opened his mouth but said nothing, merely gesturing with his eyes for her to take a seat
Not familiar
The two men spoke in unison, and Mu Yan's tone was淡淡, seemingly expressing a strong dislike for Tan Ziyue. Tan Ziyue cast a meaningful glance at the two ladies and responded as if it were only natural.
Mi Yu wore a sullen expression, dragging An Yiruo along step by step behind Mu Yan. As they approached the door to his office, they instinctively took two steps back, retreating to their respective positions. Sensing the footsteps behind him had lightened, he turned around and said, "I just want to ask Miss An to confirm whether this Mr. Tan is the person you are meeting. Is there any other issue?" His voice was dull, seemingly displeased. What was wrong with these two women? They had already made excuses for a long time, and after so much persuasion and education, why were they still unwilling to cooperate?
Mi Yu let out a sound, showing no signs of relaxation, and pressed on with a thorough inquiry: "Don't try to pull the wool over my eyes. If you don't clarify what grievances you have with Comrade Captain, don't even think about leaving the narcotics team alive"
